You may be able to get sound with a different connection but it depends. If the turntable has a built in phono preamp then you could connect it to the aux input on the sound bar directly. If it doesn’t and the receiver has a record out then that could be connected to the sound bar aux input.
Apr 17, 2012 · My question is can a turntable be hooked up to my soundbar? I have a Samsung HWC-450 Soundbar that I use with my TV. It has no RCA inputs but does have 2 optical digital audio inputs and 1 mini-stero input.
Dec 09, 2013 · No. For one thing you don’t get the chance to space left and right very far from each other. Plus you’ll still need some kind of phono preamplification (assuming that it’s an active soundbar). Basically it’s the wrong tool for the job – it’s TV sized so it can be used under a TV.
the TV is connected to the soundbar via HDMI and the soundbar acts as a reciever so i should be able to keep it all plugged in. Guess i’ll try out that convertor and hope it does the trick! It’s confusing because some are like$10 and others are $70.

If you’re not sold on the idea of buying separate speakers, you could actually hook up all the components on your list to the Samsung soundbar. Just connect your TV to its HDMI Out (TV-ARC) port, the Blu-ray player to the HDMI input, the CD player to the optical digital input, and the turntable to the minijack analog input (you’ll need to

If you are working with a turntable that doesn’t have a built-in pre-amp, you’ll need to buy that component.

If you want high quality sound the absolute last thing you want is a soundbar. You want a good preamp, if you can, get a phono preamp as well as they will sound much better than the crappy one built into a receiver. I wouldn’t go with powered speakers if you want a good setup.
Jan 20, 2013 · I think you’re gonna have to try before you buy, if you can, if this is a real concern for you. I do believe there are other models of turntable with built in phonos, so it might repay you to shop around a bit more before you buy one.
